While simply enjoying the process of making paintings, in these works I was also thinking a lot about points of light and particulate matter. Part of my practice revolves around marveling at how everything can be observed on a scale that displays its smaller constituents. I like thinking about how investigating things on a microscopic scale often leads to massive discovery both in science and in life. Contemplating the particulate nature of things serves as a reminder for me that passage is always possible, despite the seemingly impassable nature of some heavy, seemingly solid things.
